Time to renew your USMS Membership if you've not done so already. A link to
renewal form is on the
tampametromasters.org home page, or just click
here, fill it out, print it off, write your check, and send it Dave
Naffziger.
Its also time to renew your YMCA membership, for Y members, or those planning on
participating in the YMCA Masters Nationals. If you are a community or program
member, you must renew by NO LATER THAN January 14 to be eligible for the Y
Nationals.
Training and Practice Updates
Weather and water are nice right now, and the weather looks good for some decent
swimming. Time to get started off the right way in the New Year!
YMCA
Masters Nationals
The YMCA Masters Nationals are again in Fort Lauderdale April 14 (distance
events) - 17. Here are the important dates:
- January 14 - you must be a registered member of the YMCA by January 14.
If you are a program/community member, you must renew your annual program
fee by then.
- March 16 - Entry deadline. Since we must submit a single consolidated
meet entry and single check as a team, we will need to gather all entries by
March 1 in order to complete the paperwork and get YMCA signatures.
Y-Nats are a fun and fast meet. Its big, but not so big you can't get around.
We are typically done by 2pm each day, so plenty of time to relax and enjoy.
It's also a great team meet with lots of relays in addition to a full course of
individual events, so everyone can swim a lot (up to 8!) events.

The YMCA Nationals does not require U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) registration,
but you must be a full YMCA member. The meet is recognized by USMS for times,
top tens, records, etc.

Upcoming Competition and Events
Lets try for good TMM turnouts for the Valentine Meet in Clearwater. Its a nice
indoor pool, so no worry about the weather. Get your entries in by February
4. It's a nice meet to get the season started, and have some fun. And
there's always some cool, refreshing beverages after the meet!
