Meeting Summary
We had lots of good ideas... now we need to start working on them. Here is a
summary. Sorry for the delay in getting these out, but I'm still hobbled a bit.
Y Programs
- Plenty of opportunities for contributions and volunteering. We will
need to get behind a couple of these ideas that we can positively impact,
and not diffuse our efforts too much.
- Contributions ideas - I'll work with the Y staff to understand what
would be the best use of funds. Ideas include better flags, and a team
contribution towards the swim programs
- Volunteer ideas - assisting w/ kids programs, timers at meets,
adaptive
- Big idea - the Y is considering a timing system that will not be
cheap, so that may be another channel for contributions.
- Swimathon/USMS Postal Championships - we swim in one of the upcoming
USMS Postal Championships (http://www.usms.org/longdist/ldnats11/#postals)
and double up as a fund raiser.
- Grow the program
- Reach out to triathletes and conditioning swimmers
- Advertise in Y publications and newsletters... and other outlets,
such as bike shops, tri magazines, etc.
- Masters/adult swim bulletin board
- Develop brochures (pretty much done), and distribute at front desk
- Reach out and coordinate with other Ys
- Add the programs to the "group fitness" schedules
- Staff a table periodically in the front lobby to recruit members
- Participate in the Campo meet Feb 26
- Create "business cards" with the program vitals we can easily hand
out in social situations
TMM Development
- We are ordering new shirts to replenish for new members. We have plenty
of latex caps, a few silicone caps, and miscellaneous patches, stickers,
etc. See Tim Carroll if interested.
- We are considering updating the logo, and ordering some more apparel.
More news as we are able to spend time to come up some spiffy ideas.
Apparel ideas include more wind breakers, hoodies, towels, practice suits,
etc.
- We had some discussion about hosting a meet at some point.
- Much of the "grow the program" above applies to TMM as well as the Y
Please pick one or three of these ideas... or your own, to help improve masters
swimming in Tampa. I know we are all busy and have lots of responsibilities. We
have a lot of great talent in and out of the pool, so lets harvest some of that
talent towards improving the program. I appreciate your effort ahead of time.
I've had some positive preliminary discussions about some of these ideas with Y
staff. Lets keep the momentum going!
Any questions, let me know!
Social
We are still developing plans, but lets have an informal after practice get
together at The Lodge in New Tampa Thursday, Feb 10, after practice, around
8:20pm or so.
http://www.ciccioslodge.com/. Please send me a quick RSVP so I can get an
approximate count. Nothing fancy, but its something we've done in the past and
many members enjoyed partaking.
