News

A good time once again at the Bumpy Jones meet in Sarasota.  The SYSM Masters team did a great job yet again running a good meet, keeping it fun and fast. Water was perfect! We had a nice time at the picnic, and enjoyed the social and the good food!  Tom and I were big raffle winners too!  Congrats to Karen, Jenny, George, and Tom (and me?!) for representing TMM well at the meet. Photos from Bumpy Jones meet this weekend are up at http://picasaweb.google.com/tampametromasters/BumpyJonesJune11132010# .  Enjoy!

Swimming without the tech suits was quite a bit different.  Big reset, but its the new normal in swimming.  So expect to make some adjustments.. and work hard in practice to make up for the difference.

Social!

Reminder:  We will have a going away dinner for Jenny Faith Tuesday June 22 after practice.  We will have it at the Wood Fire Pizza Grill at the corner of Bruce B Downs and Bearss, in the shopping center with the Cody's Roadhouse and Beef O'Brady's.  I've heard good things about it, so I'm eager to try it out.

If you've not done so already, please give me a RSVP so we can a count for the restaurant.

Training and Practice Updates

Andrew and Coach Li have done a nice job coaching us up in practice.  Be sure to thank them, and ask questions, and have discussion with them, and get to know them. Andrew has swam several practices with us, and is a talented swimmer. They are balancing across the different swim programs, so they do get stretched a bit occasionally, so we've had a whiteboard workout a time or two.  However, keep in mind our previous coaches had absences, so we know how to get a good practice with our own self motivation, so keep it up.  Most of use have been doing this swimming thing a while.  However, we will be keeping an eye on things to make sure it stays balanced and offer to volunteer if needed to keep the program until things settle down.  If you have anything you'd like to bring up to the Y during this period, please let me know.

They NTY pool will be open for LCM 5:30am - 7:00am Mon - Fri starting Monday June 14.  I plan on swimming Tuesday June 15 and Thursday June 17 at 5:30am.  All are welcome.

Giveback

Remember, we have another adaptive volunteer opportunity on Saturday June 19, after practice.  Tara Deering is coordinating.  Its an enjoyable and rewarding experience to share our passion for swimming with those that are less abled, so consider volunteering one hour of your time.
