Metro Masters USMS Registration
If you've not done so already, please register quickly! It only takes a few
minutes, so time to get it done.
To register with TMM use the Florida LMCA interactive
online registration form. Make the check payable to TBAC and send to Dave
Naffziger. If you use the
USMS
online registration please send a check for $10 to Dave Naffziger to cover
the administration costs. Also, for first time members please email Dave (swimtrekr@verizon.net)
with your email address so he can add you to our list for newsletters and other
correspondence.
You must have a current registration to compete in 2012!
2012
YMCA Masters Nationals
Once again the YMCA Masters National are in Fort Lauderdale, FL, April 12 - 15
at the Hall of Fame swimming complex. There are 2 50M x 25Y pools, and plenty
of room. The meet is open to all YMCA members and masters swimming program
members registered in the programs by January 10, 2012 (90 days prior to the
meet).
If you know of some swimmers not associated with a Y and would like to compete
for Tampa Metro Y, let me know. They will at a minimum have to join the masters
swim program as a program member prior to January 10. Full Y membership works
too.
This is a fun, competitive meet, big enough to have good swim racin', yet still
have time to relax with friends and family. Relays are important for the
overall team scores, so plan on plenty of relays, and maxing out your potential
with swimming lots of individual events!
We will post more information on our
http://www.tampametromasters.org/ web site, but here is some planning
information and key dates:
- January 10 - last day to be register as a full YMCA member or program
member and be eligible for the meet
- March 1 - last day to get entries to me to be consolidated (the meet is
entered as a team, not individually). This takes a lot of work so the
sooner, the better.
Some info is online at

information you need online soon. Also, plan ahead for a hotel. The Y has some
hotels reserved
here, so check around.
Also be aware that there is no parking directly on site at the Hall of Fame
complex for the meet. However, there are over 1,000 public parking spaces
within about 1 1/2 blocks.
If you plan on going to Y-Nats, just let me know.
New
Tampa Y Pool Update
I am told the pools should be open by Monday, Dec 19. No guarantees on the
temperature. It was 71F Saturday morning, but not yet full.
Also, the pool will be open for the morning practice on Saturday, Dec 24
Christmas Eve, as well as New Year's Eve.
On January 7 there are plans for a dual meet for the kids teams with a visiting
team from Brazil, so it may be crowded with lots of kids who love swimming.
Stand by for possible volunteer opportunities to help out at the meet.

We will have at least 2 local meets in early 2012 to get ready for Y-Nats, so
be sure to plan ahead, and get some competition in before the big meet.
